Quick and Easy Pizza Dough

Cuisine Italian/American

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups lukewarm water about 110°F
  • 2 packets instant dry yeast 1/4 ounce each
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup olive oil plus, extra for greasing and drizzling
  • 1 teaspoon coarse salt
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled) plus, more for your work surface

Instructions

  • Wake up the yeast
In a large bowl, combine the lukewarm water with the yeast.Let it sit for about 5 minutes, until it gets nice and foamy.
(If it doesn’t foam, your water might’ve been too hot, toocold, or your yeast might be living its best expired life. No shame, just tryagain with fresh yeast.)
  • Add the flavor-makers
Whisk in the sugar, olive oil, and salt.
This is where the dough goes from “sad and starchy” to tender, tasty, and totally pizza-worthy.
  • Add the flour, slowly
Slowly add the flour, stirring until the dough is sticky but manageable.
Alliteration alert: we’re looking for soft, slightly sticky, not-super-soupy dough. If it feels like pancake batter, add a little more flour. If it feels like a brick, add a drizzle of water.
  • Rise it like you mean it
Lightly oil another large bowl. Transfer the dough into it, drizzle with a bit more olive oil, and cover with plastic wrap.
Let the dough rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour, or until it’s doubled in size.
  • Quick knead + rest
Once the dough has risen, turn it out onto a flouredsurface. Knead it gently 2–3 times to form a round shape, then let itrest for about 10 minutes.
This tiny rest is the secret handshake for dough thatstretches easier without snapping back like a rubber band.
  • Shape it however your life needs
You can use the dough for:
    one large pizza
    two medium pizzas
    four individual pizzas
And just like that… you’re ready to create your masterpiece.
  • Bake it to perfection Preheat your oven to 475°F. If you’ve got a pizza stone, pop it in the oven while it preheats. If not, a regular baking sheet works just fine, my dazzling dough darlings.
  • Transfer your shaped dough to your pizza stone or baking sheet, add your toppings, and bake for 10–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and beautiful.
  • Pro tip: for extra crispiness, pre-bake the dough for 3–5 minutes before adding toppings. It’s a crunchy little game-changer, especially if you’re loading it up with saucy, juicy, glorious goodness.
